Copy № 12 (of 270) of the first edition of this important bibliography on print editions of early written testimonies of Italian language, here complete with the appendix.

Contents: The bibliography assembles 1531 print editions of literary works and other texts written between 1200 and 1400 in different variants of early Italian. All of the entries are meticulously described and include comments on edition history and their significance, thus filling gaps left by the major bibliographers (such as Gamba and Poggiali). Present set also comprises the appendix volume, which is furthermore not available in digital form. Further, revised and enlarged editions of this searched bibliography should appear in 1861, 1866, 1878 and 1884. In 1929 a supplement with an extensive index of names, titles and subjects followed.

Condition: Spine and rear wrapper of main volume with faults, skilfully restored however, with the majority of the spine title preserved. Wrappers and end papers of main volume with minimal foxing, otherwise well preserved; the appendix volume crisp.

Rarity: Very scarce in the original publisher's wrappers.
