Beautifully illustrated edition of the Passover Haggadah, telling the Jewish Exodus from Egypt as described in the Torah.
Present edition, proofread by scholar Rabbi Joseph Unna, is accompanied with bright offsets of congenially multicolour ink paintings by German born Claire Unna (1907-1984), who also incorporated titles, captions and initials in her design concept. Unna had immigrated to Palestine in 1934 where she worked as an artist and painting instructor. The edition was published by famous »Omanut Press«, a core publisher of Hebrew educational material and books for young people founded in Moscow in 1917, continued in Odessa in 1919 and Frankfurt in 1920, and finally settling in Palestine in 1925.
Boards very slightly worn, otherwise well preserved copy of this gorgeous item indeed. Owner’s remark of „Many Beer“, Zurich, with pencil at inner side of front board.
OCLC, KVK, Google and viaLibri Libraries list 3 copies only worldwide in institutional holdings (SUB Hamburg, Harvard, National Library of Israel).
