Original vellum by A.[ristide] Straderini, Rome, with gilt ornamental decoration on boards and spine, gilt title on spine, gilt cut throughout as well as decorative end papers depicting floral motives.

No. 10 of only 10 numbered preferential copies „fuori di commercio“ of this comprehensive multilingual collection of proverbs and idioms about the city of Rome, bound in vellum by famous bookbinder and inventor Aristide Staderini.

Contents: Starting with 75 entries documenting the famous „Tutte le strade conducono a Roma“ (All Roads Lead to Rome) present volume in 24 chapters assembles over 1000 proverbs and idioms about the „Eternal City“ in order of the author's names. Each entry of this multilingual account with records from all epochs is printed in original language and type as well as in Italian translation.

Design, Printing, Binding: The Typesetting for this volume, done by the printers of the Austro-Hungarian Lloyd in Trieste, is of utmost care and taste, additionally each page is bordered with a decent ruby-red frame. Present copy of the preferential print run of only 10 was bound skilfully by Aristide Staderini, a prolific Rome based bookbinder and successful inventor of this field.

Condition: Cover in parts slightly rubbed, edges and corners minimally bumped, otherwise very well indeed.

Rarity: Due to the very small print run, this preferential edition is of utmost rarity, altogether with Straderini's binding probably unique. There are no other copies worldwide traceable in institutions and at auctions, including Italy.
