[Manuscript with table of Jewish, Assyrian, Greek, Egyptian and Roman mythology and history, from Adam to Octavian.] S.l., s.a. [presumably 17th century].

[Manuscript in 6 colours with abstracts of mythological and historical events as well as attributed gods, rulers, places and personalities of Jewish, Assyrian, Greek, Egyptian and Roman history, from Adam to Octavian.] S.l., s.a. [presumably 17th century].

77:55 cm. Orange, gold-coloured, blue, brown red and black ink thick laid paper, folded four times.

Large format manuscript in colourful, meticulous calligraphy with events, potentates and dates of ancient mythology and history at one glance, presumably compiled in the 1600s.

Contents: The table consists of 5 differently coloured columns, each of which representing an ancient culture (titled „Hebrai“, „Assyrii“, „Grȩci“, „Ægÿptii“ and „Romani“) and 6 rows, i.e. 30 segments. Each of the segments contain accurately calligraphed Latin text with mythological and historical events telling about events and inflicted gods, rulers and places from top to bottom in chronological order following the Hebrew Calendar. Hence the text starts with „Adam“ in the „Hebrai“ column on the upper left, thus ending on bottom left with the Jewish year 4054 and „...imperii Augusti 31 nascitur Cristus“. The „Romani“ column starts with „Pelasgi extrema Italie occupant abiis magna Grȩcia.“ and ends with „4023. Octavius imperator“. Each of the five columns are marked by a different colour (orange, gold-coloured, blue, black and red), the body text is written in black.

Additionally the text corpus is characterised by a stunning hypertext feature, i.e. systematic references are made by using the colour of the attributed culture (e.g. blue for Greek) for any related content in all the other columns throughout the manuscript.

Condition: Margins restored, in parts slightly foxy.
