8vo. 79 [1] pages; 3 folded plates. Lithography and letterpress on machine laid paper, bound in contemporary calico with blind embossed title printing on spine ornamental framing on boards as well as marbled edges.

First and only edition of this illustrated treatise on prehistorical jewellery and related artefacts used as monetary objects and predecessors of coins.

Contents, Author: Franz (Ferenc) Kiss (1791-1859) was professor for archeology and numismatics at Pest University who during his lifetime build up a substantial of coins coins and related archeological artefacts he also described meticulously in different publications like the present. The folded plates show 53 items in high quality lithography.

Condition: The original covers not bound in, otherwise very well preserved indeed; rear end paper recto with page filling contemporary owner's annotations related to historical and etymological matters.

Provenance: From the library of a noble, probably Hungarian, Austrian or Bohemian, with a blind-stamped coat of arms on title leaf and second leaf (not to be found in Siebmacher).
