BOSILEK, Ran: Sinchets [Squill]. Stihove za detsa [Poems for Children]. Cover illustration and 21 tipped-in, multicolour plates by V.[adim] LAZARKEVICH. Sofia: Hemus (Edison) [1930]. 8to. 56 S. Original publisher's half cloth with multicolour illustrated cover design.

1st edition of this delightfully illustrated little collection with poems for kids by Ran Bosilek (1886-1955). Beeing one of the most important Bulgarian authors and promoters of children's and youth literature, Ran Bosilek produced adaptions of e.g. the »Iliad«, »Odyssey« and the »Grimm's fairy tales« for young readers, and translated i.a. Astrid Lindgren. - The 21 tipped-in plates are zincografic reproductions of georgeous multicolour drawings by Ivan Lazarkevich (1895-1963), a Kiev-born ethnic Russian who was educated at the famous Petersburg Art Academy and moved to Bulgaria in 1920 to become a reknown children book illustrator and comic artist.

Cover in parts slightly stained, srachted and worn, edges and corners slightly bumped, title page and colophon page with owner's ink remark, inside somewhat finger-stained, generally solid copy of this edition. Although the print run is stated numbering 4000 copies the item is quite rare: there is no copy on the international markets and OCLC indicates only one copy worldwide in Cincinnati PL.
