Outstanding collection of 118 multicolour aircraft safety cards of various shapes and sizes, edited by 38 airlines from all over the world for about 30 aircrafts, reaching from the 1960s to the 1980s.
Content, Illustration: Among many others the collection includes safety cards of the first commercial jetliners like the Boeing 707 (starting service in 1958, 3 cards) and the Douglas DC-8 (1958, 4 cards), the Boeing 747 „Jumbo Jet“ (1969, 13 cards) and, last but not least, the legendary Concorde (1976, 1 card). The graphic design for the cards developed from colourful and fancy but difficult to understand beginnings to a more simple and pictogrammatic, hence pedagogically more useful approach to instruction design.
Present collection of safety cards is loosely kept in a Samsonite special edition suitcase made for the German airliner Lufthansa. Included are cards for the following aircrafts and models: Airbus (A 300, A 310, A 320, A 321), Bae (146), Boeing (707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767 and 777), De Havilland Canada (Dash 8), Fokker (50, 502), Hawker Siddeley (Trident Two, Trident Three), Jatao (Super Jet 500) Lockheed (L-1011 TriStar), McDonnell-Douglas (DC-8 to DC-10, MD 80, MD 83, MD 87, Super 80), Saab (SF 340 Cityliner), Tupolev (Tu-154), edited by Air France, Airlanka, air europe, Alitalia, Air Mauritius, Air Tahiti, Ansett, Austrian, Bangkok Airways, BEA, British Airways, Canadian Pacific Airlines, Cruzeiro, Delta, Egypt Air, Garuda Indonesia, Iberia, Indian Airlines, KLM, LAC Colombia, Lauda Air, LTU, Lufthansa, Malev, Mexicana, Quantas, Pan Am, SAS, SAL-SAA, Singapore Airlines, Swissair, TAP, Tradewinds, TUR, Trans Brasil, Tyrolean, TWA, Varig and others.
Condition: Some of the cards slightly bumped at edges, occasionally stained and with some minimal crease, some of the cards with handwritten airport codes to memorise the flight.
