Outstanding set of 4 rare Bulgarian illustrated early socialist calendars.
Contents, Illustration: 4 issues of particularly rare almanacs of the early Bulgarian socialist movement. Apart from the calendars itself the volumes contain numerous essays on political and economical topics as well as poems.
The reproduced photographies depict portraits of international socialists like Viktor Adler, P. B. Axelrod, August Bebel, Jean Jaurés and Karl Kautsky, as well as group pictures of Bulgarian activists. A number of stunning drawings and wood-engravings mostly show political caricatures.
Condition: Spines slightly sun-stained, top and bottom of spines minimal faults, issue for 1910 cut at margins with minimal loss of text at upper margin of front cover, front covers and title pages with owner’s remarks, some marginals inside, paper time stained.
Rarity: Of particular rarity. As of April 19th 2022 only one copy of year 1915 to locate for us in WorldCat/OCLC; other holdings only at the Bulgarian National Library in Sofia (5 issues of the years 1907 and 1908).
