FIRST EDITION of this monumental work on phaleristics, compiled by the Belgian publisher and bookseller of German origin Carl Johann Mucquardt (1813-63).
Contents, Illustration: Mucquardt’s encyclopaedic compilation contains orders and other objects of conferred honour from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, France, German territories, Greece, Great Britain, Italy, The Netherlands, Persia, Portugal, Prussia, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the Vatican, among others. The volume is particularly remarkable due to it’s rich illustration, depicting around 500 items printed in great detail and brightly colours, especially those drawn by Clerman and engraved by Duverger.
Condition: Spine in parts occasionally worn, edges in parts very slightly bumped, some paper with minor foxing, otherwise very good copy indeed.
