Yearbook of the legendary French railway company »Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée« (PLM), gorgeously designed in Art Deco-style by renown French and Belgian artists.

Company, Content: The PLM operated chiefly in the south-east of France and the Maghreb, with a main line connecting Paris to the Côte d'Azur and its noble seaside resorts Cannes and Nice. To make these sites accessible to rich British tourists, the PLM ran the luxury „Blue Train“ from Calais to the French Riviera. The companies diaries' appeared from 1911 to 1931. Present, penultimate volume contains profusely illustrated travel accounts about Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia as well as Cyprus and the Canary Islands among others.

Illustration: The almanac is richly illustrated with works by a number of well-known French and Belgian contemporary artists like Roger Broders and Jean-Raoul Chaurand-Naurac (both well known for their designs for PLM-posters), Léon Carré, Louis Fernez, Paul de Lassence, Léo Lelée (who designed the splendid end papers), Joseph Daviel de La Nézière, Malo-Renault, Louis Roux-Servine and Jacques Touchet.

Condition: This copy lacks the crystal paper sleeve originally containing 12 detachable postcards offered to any purchaser of the 1930 PLM diary, spine slightly rubbed, otherwise well persevered indeed.
